I was raised in the tiny community of Homer, Michigan, in the US. I wanted to be an artist from an early age. I have always been inspired by music and at my first dance recital at age 4 I was costumed as a “French” artist. There wasn’t much in the way of art instruction in that small town so I went to the local library to pour over the works of Michelangelo, my favorite at the time. I thought the works of the masters were how every artist was supposed to paint or draw. As a fourth grader I was trying my best to copy those drawings and in high school I started being commissioned for simple art jobs. I went on to Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids, Michigan, graduating from the illustration department with a senior scholarship from American Greetings. I moved to the city, Indianapolis, Indiana, where I worked as an illustrator before raising a family and freelanced from home after my 3 girls were born. Since that time I have been an event designer, costume designer, professional seamstress, and art instructor but true love is illustration and fine art. In June of 2017 I moved to a 1600 square foot studio in another small rural community, coming full circle. I freelance, teach, paint commissioned art and added a retail gallery to sell my work.View Full Bio
